E-groceries growth during COVID-19 in Italy 2020

Online purchases of groceries in Italy grew significantly due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and the resulting lockdown. As the graph shows, during the lockdown, Italians increased their online grocery shopping expenditure in order to avoid long queues at supermarkets. Online grocery sales more than double throughout the lockdown period and recorded the highest increase in the third week of April, when rose by 217 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
