Almost 8.6 million students were enrolled in basic general education, or grades five to nine, in Russia at the beginning of the school year 2022/2023. Furthermore, around 1.3 million started their 10th or 11th grade in September 2022. The total number of general education students in Russia reached roughly 17.5 million.
