Between 2012 and 2019, some 31 percent of children in Nigeria were involved in child labor, at the moment of the survey. The source specifies that a child is considered to be involved in child labor when he or she does hours of economic activity and/or several hours of unpaid household services. The amount of work and hours considered as child labor differ according to the age group.

Percentage of children 5–17 years old involved in child labor at the moment of the survey. A child is considered to be involved in child labor under the following conditions: (a) children 5–11 years old who, during the reference week, did at least one hour of economic activity and/or more than 21 hours of unpaid household services, (b) children 12–14 years old who, during the reference week, did at least 14 hours of economic activity and/or more than 21 hours of unpaid household services, (c) children 15–17 years old who, during the reference week, did at least 43 hours of economic activity.
