Over the past years, professional sports leagues have gained significant popularity, offering great entertainment to fans watching live in the stadiums and back home on TV. However, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in 2020 had a huge impact on the sport industry, leading to the cancelation of many leagues and championships across all sports. One way in which professional sports were safely reintroduced was to play the games out in empty stadiums, with some broadcasters adding artificial crowd noise to simulate a full stadium. In a survey conducted in the United States in May 2020, only four percent of respondents stated that this recorded noise made watching the sporting event much more enjoyable.
