Coronavirus measures adopted in West Africa 2020
As of April 2020, the most common measures adopted in the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19) in West Africa were health screenings, international flight suspensions, and limits on public gatherings. Additionally, 14 countries shut their borders, whereas 15 chose to close the schools. The spread of the coronavirus in West Africa might have enormous consequences due to the lack of medical equipment and physicians. For instance, Sierra Leone counted 0.3 doctors every 10,000 inhabitants, while Cabo Verde had 7.8 physicians, the highest density among the West African countries.
