In 2018, the global production of hydrogen reached a total of 60 million metric tons. This figure is expected to increase dramatically by 2030, reaching approximately around 300 million metric tons. The drastic increase in hydrogen production that is expected is as a result of a new technique for separating hydrogen from gas mixtures: polymeric separation membranes.
