According to a survey by Rakuten Insight on panic buying after the coronavirus outbreak, 48 percent of Singaporean respondents aged 55 years and older stated that they did not stock up on items because they trusted supermarkets to have enough supplies. In the same survey, 86 percent of respondents indicated that they had not engaged in panic buying because of the coronavirus pandemic, while 14 percent of respondents did.

The survey was conducted among 2,844 female and 2,092 male respondents.
The survey was conducted among
844 respondents aged 16 to 24 years,
1,415 respondents aged 25 to 34 years,
1,256 respondents aged 35 to 44 years,
814 respondents aged 45 to 54 years and
607 respondents aged 55 years and older.
Other surveyed countries included China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Taiwan.
