Number of higher education institutions in Denmark 2022, by type

In Denmark, there are several types of higher education institutions, offering different study programs with different lengths of studying. In 2022, universities, university colleges, and business academies each had eight institutions spread across Denmark. Universities are the only institutions which offer master programs, and the focus is primarily theoretical. On the other hand, university colleges and business academies require fewer years of studying and are usually aimed at specific professions. In comparison, the cultural educational institutions focus on subjects such as architecture, design, films, and music. The largest share of higher education students in Denmark is enrolled in universities.
