According to a survey among Chinese truck drivers, more than 80 percent of respondents claimed that their transportation costs increased after the resumption of highway toll. China paused the highway toll during the COVID-19 period from February 17, 2020, to May 6, 2020.

The survey was conducted among:
26.2 percent of short-distance truck drivers and 73.8 percent of long-distance truck drivers.
About 89.6 percent of the respondents were self-employed, 8.1 percent of the respondents were employed by private truck owners and 2.3 percent of the respondents were employed by logistic enterprises.
