According to a survey conducted by Vase.ai on Malaysians' consumption behavior during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period, 60 percent of respondents were shopping offline and online during Phase 1 of the MCO. By phase 3, it fell to 32 percent. The Malaysian government issued the MCO period for two weeks from March 18, 2020. It has been extended for the fourth time to June 9.

The Movement Control Order was introduced to restrict the movement of people in Malaysia, in an effort to slow down the spread of COVID-19. It was implemented on March 18, 2020, and expected to be lifted on June 3, 2020.
