Measuring gender equality in primary schools
Boys and girls in Ghana have had equal primary education enrollment opportunities from 2015 onwards. The gender parity index for gross primary school enrollment in the country has remained at one point since that year. In terms of unenrolled children of school-going age as of 2020, approximately 155.2 thousand were boys, while the count for girls reached 110 thousand.
Increasing teaching staff
The number of teachers in primary education in Ghana added up to over 185.7 thousand in 2020. This number had been reached in an annually increasing trend registered since 2013. Compared to the rising count in school-going children, this signifies a positive balance between primary education enrollment and staff availability. Overall, roughly 62 percent of teachers in Ghana were trained as of 2020.
