Number of NME approved Japan 2013-2022
In 2022, a total of 52 new molecular entities (NME) were approved by the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) in Japan, the same number as the previous year. NME products refer to medical drugs that contain active ingredients that were never approved in the country before. PMDA functions as a regulatory agency for pharmaceutical products and medical devices, working together with the health ministry in Japan.
