According to a survey on online gaming conducted by Rakuten Insight in April 2022, about 34 percent of the online gamers from Taiwan stated that they decided to make an in-game purchase mainly because they needed to advance to the next level or to continue playing the game. The same survey found that 47 percent of the Taiwanese gamers played online games every day.
