The Men's High Jump has been included in all Summer Olympics since the inaugural games in 1896, and the United States has been the most successful nation in the event throughout this time. In total, the U.S. has won 13 golds and 35 total medals. Several athletes have won multiple medals in this event, but none have won more than one gold medal; Qatar's Mutaz Essa Barshim is the event's most successful athlete, with one medal of each color to his name.
2012 gold winner, Ivan Ukhov of Russia, was stripped of his medal in February 2019 for doping violations; as of August 2021, the medals have not been redistributed, however it is likely that Erik Kynard of the U.S. will be promoted to the gold medal position, while the joint bronze medals given to athletes from Britain, Canada and Qatar will be elevated to silvers. In March 2020, it was also announced that the 2008 gold winner, Andrey Silnov of Russia, was also under investigation for doping offenses, however the investigation is still ongoing and the 2008 results remain unaffected.

This data was collected using the official Olympic.org site, as well as a spreadsheet from the Guardian that includes data from 1896-2008 (available here), 2012 and 2016 data was compared with that from Encyclopaedia Britannica, and several news outlets were used to update the table when medals were reassigned (i.e. for doping offenses).
