According to a survey by Rakuten Insight in April 2020, 45 percent of Thai respondents stated that they made bulk purchases because they might be quarantined and would not be able to buy groceries. The survey also explored popular stocked-up items during the pandemic and it revealed that dry foods were the most popular item.

Original question: What influenced you to buy these items in bulk?
The survey was conducted among 6,632 female and 4,365 male respondents. Other surveyed countries included China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam.
