According to the report on the prevalence of diabetes in China, about 35.41 percent of diabetes patients were aware of their disease and around 33.18 percent took control measures. Patients aged between 40 to 54 years had the lowest control rate among all age groups.

The survey was conducted among:
52.4 percent male and 47.6 percent female;
32.2 percent from East China, 15.6 percent from Central China, 14.6 percent from Southwest China,12.5 percent from South China,10.9 percent from North China, 8.6 percent from Northeast China and 5.6 percent from Northwest China.
Diabetes defined as fasting blood glucose equal to or higher than 7 mmol/L, or Hemoglobin A1C level equal or higher than 6.5 percent, or with a history of diagnosis of diabetes.
