At the end of 2023, the number of floating storage regasification units (FSRUs) worldwide had increased to 51 vessels. This followed steady increases in the previous years. FSRUs may be used to store and regasify liquefied natural gas either docked directly at their destination harbor or used as a means of transportation. By comparison, the number of total LNG tankers including FSRUs reached 772 vessels that same year.
