The Giro d'Italia is a renowned bicycle race organized in Italy since 1909. Together with the Tour de France and the Vuelta a EspaƱa, it is part of the so-called Grand Tours, ones of the most important cycling races worldwide. Originally, the race started and finished in Milan, while for the last fifty years the starting and finishing stages have changed annually. Occasionally, the Giro d'Italia starts and passes through other countries too. In 2020, the Giro was supposed to start in Budapest on May 9. However, due to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the race has been postponed to October 2020 and eventually started in Sicily.
