According to a survey conducted in 2019, almost one third of foreign nationals who worked as regular employees in Japan stated that they feel lonely. Among part-time employees and part-time jobbers, the share of people who felt lonely was considerably lower. The source pointed out that respondents who had a strong feeling of loneliness tended to have a low work performance as well as low job satisfaction and showed an increased turnover intention.
