According to a survey conducted on the status of truck drivers in India in February 2020, majority of truck drivers stated that the safety and security on highways was bad with an exception of drivers from the city of Vijayawada. Poor road conditions, exploitation of authorities for extra money, risk of theft and robbery of unattended trucks and risk of death were some of the reasons for dissatisfaction of safety standards on highways among truck drivers.
