According to a survey on the status of truck drivers in India, majority of truck drivers were not provided with any social security benefits as of February 2020. The drivers from the city of Mumbai were not provided with even the vital benefits such as health and life insurance. Lack of awareness and education among truck drivers limits them from obtaining essential social benefits from their employers. Majority of drivers in the country that possess both life and medical insurances had more than six years of experience and were aged between 26 to 40 years.
