In 2018, Banco Bilbao Viszcaya Argentaria (BBVA) joined a growing number of the world's largest banks in making a financial commitment to sustainable financing and investments to help projects, technologies, and clean energies in delivery of the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Under its 2025 Pledge, BBVA committed to mobilize 100 billion euros between 2018 and 2025 in the form of green finance, sustainable infrastructure and agribusiness, financial inclusion and entrepreneurship as well as other sustainable mobilization. In the three years that had passed since their commitment, BBVA has invested approximately 50 billion euros, half their final pledge.
