In Britain, the number of drink-led licensed premises, such as pubs and bars, fell by 5.6 percent between March 2020 and December 2021. Food-led premises (i.e. those that primarily serve food rather than beverages) also declined considerably during this period exhibiting a 9.1 percent decline. Pub closures in the UK have resulted in an ongoing decline in the number of pubs.
