Green bonds are fixed income securities which finance investments with environmental or climate-related benefits. In the nine months through to September 2020, new issuers on the green bonds market in Europe issued green bonds with a total value of 22.85 billion U.S. dollars. The highest share of green bonds by value, at approximately 11.6 billion U.S. dollars, was with a tenor between 5.1 and 10 years.
