The Indian state of Gujarat, with around 142.6 thousand megawatts, had the highest potential to generate wind energy at a height of 120 meters above ground level as of December 2021.
With a goal of capturing more energy, the National Institute of Wind Energy conducted a wind potential assessment at 120 meter hub height.
A long coast line and high wind speeds provide the state of Gujarat with the foundation to convert wind into electrical energy through on-shore and off-shore wind power plants.

This assessment was carried out using a spatial resolution of 500 meters, using the advanced meso-micro coupled numerical wind flow model with evidence from 406 actual measurement sites.
