With revenues amounting to almost 150 percent of their expenses, Connecticut has the largest surplus of revenue to expenses of any U.S. state in FY 2018. On the other end of the scale is New Jersey, whose revenues amounted to just under 90 percent of their total expenditure in FY 2018.
