In the last week of February 2020, Colombia saw major growth in sales of certain personal hygiene products. According to a study, sales of wet wipes and hand soaps registered growth rates of 44 and 35 percent, respectively. During the same period, face wipes and toilet paper were also very popular among Colombian shoppers, with sales increasing over 25 percent each. These increases in sales were most likely due to the COVID-19 outbreak, caused by the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). Household cleaning products also registered a growth in sales during this period.
