According to a survey on urban mobility in India, about 75 percent of the respondents stated that the main advantage of electric vehicles would be the reduction in air pollution. Over 70 percent of respondents said that they would like their next vehicle purchase to be an electric vehicle according to the survey. Furthermore, over 93 percent of the respondents favored central and state governments providing incentives and subsidies for electric vehicles in the south Asian country.

Respondents were from six metro cities, 16 tier one cities and 38 tier two cities.

Metro - population of over seven million
Tier one - population between 2 million and 7 million
