In a survey Ipsos carried out in February 2020, close to three-quarters of Japanese respondents believed a total quarantine would be correct given the risk of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Around a half of respondents also stated that it was impossible to predict how the virus is spreading. Furthermore, roughly 56 percent of the respondents believed the coronavirus outbreak would have a financial impact on themselves and their family.
