In a survey conducted in December 2019, a half of Japanese respondents agreed that Tokyo Prefecture hosting the 2020 Olympics would help developing the city easily accessible with more universal design facilities. With another approximately 36 percent somewhat agreeing to the statement, an overall majority of around 86 percent foresaw this development due to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
The Summer Olympics were scheduled to take place between 24 July and 9 August in 2020, being held for the second time in the Japanese capital.
