In a survey conducted in December 2019, close to 20 percent of both Japanese male and female respondents agreed that the Tokyo 2020 Olympics would increase their personal interest in health promotion. With another approximately 29 percent of males and 31 percent of females somewhat agreeing to the statement, more than 48 percent of each gender foresaw a positive impact of the 2020 Olympics on their own health consciousness.
The Summer Olympics were scheduled to take place between 24 July and 9 August in 2020, being held for the second time in the Japanese capital.
