During a 2019 survey, 15 percent of respondents from Brazil and Chile stated they believed that governments should not be allowed to use artificial intelligence (AI) and facial recognition to maintain order. Among the six surveyed countries, Brazil and Chile showed the highest the rejection level. On the other hand, the highest acceptance level was also reported in Brazil where 29 percent of respondents stated the government should be allowed to use AI and facial recognition as much as needed to maintain order.

Argentina: 500 (representative of general adult population under the age of 75),
Brazil: 1,000,
Chile: 500,
Colombia: 500,
Mexico: 1,000,
Peru: 500.
The sources stated that the samples in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru were "more urban, more educated, and/or more affluent than the general population," that is why "the survey results for these countries should be viewed as reflecting the views of the more "connected" segment of the population."
