Machinery and transport equipment were the most exported products from the European Union to the Mercosur countries in 2018, with an export value of 19 billion euros. This was also the most traded category between the two blocs. The total export value of main goods from the EU to the Mercosur area amounted to 37.1 billion euros. In imports, the total value was 37.4 billion euros that same year.

The Mercosur Association Agreement is composed by Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. Venezuela, its fifth member since 2012, was suspended in December 2016.
