Rate of hospital stays for harm caused by substance abuse in Canada from 2017 to 2018, by age
(per 100,000 population)
Hospital stays for conditions partially attributable to substance use (e.g. cancer, strokes, respiratory disease, trauma) were not included. Also, the stigma associated with substance use may influence what is recorded in hospital records and contribute to under-reporting of cases.
