A popular evening TV show 315 Gala in China, which is broadcasted on March 15 each year, has made the date as an annual consumer rights day. Produced by the China Central Television (CCTV), the two-hour gala focuses on bad corporate behavior in the areas of product quality, after-sales service, etc.
Between 2011 and 2022, a total of 28 food brands were reported in the show for violating consumer rights. Malicious practices in live commerce covered in the 2023 show was the most discussed topic on the internet.
