According to a survey conducted in February 2020, most Italians aged 18 years and older holding a car insurance policy said that they chose a bonus-malus system to insure their car, in particular in Northern Italy. Black box insurance appeared to be the second-most common car insurance type in Italy, very popular especially in the South. All-risks insurance coverage was less common, chosen by roughly one in ten Italians.
