According to a survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in November 2019, almost 40 percent of female and more than 39 of male Japanese respondents said that they had not tried functional beverages because they did not understand the function or what the drinks claimed to do. Women were more likely than men not to try functional beverages because of the higher price compared to regular products.
