According to a survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in November 2019, nearly 21 percent of 16 to 24 year old respondents in Taiwan said that they found out about functional beverages through social media, vlogs or blog posts. Meanwhile, this was the case for around nine percent of respondents aged above 54 years.

Functional beverages described in other questions of the survey included energy-boosting drinks, fermented/probiotic drinks, low-calorie drinks, drinks promoting beauty/brain performance/health, functional water, "detox" drinks, etc.
Among a total of 8,011 survey respondents in Taiwan, 6,909 said they have tried functional beverages.
