According to a survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in November 2019, nearly 27 percent of 16 to 24 year old respondents in Taiwan who had tried functional beverages said that they consumed those types of beverages several times a month. Meanwhile, around 22 percent of respondents aged above 54 years confirmed this statement.

Functional beverages described in other questions of the survey included energy-boosting drinks, fermented/probiotic drinks, low-calorie drinks, drinks promoting beauty/brain performance/health, functional water, "detox" drinks, etc.
Among a total of 8,011 survey respondents in Taiwan, 6,909 said they had tried functional beverages. Among those, 4,156 were female and 2,753 were male.
