According to a survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in November 2019, around 37 percent of respondents in mainland China who had tried functional beverages said that they consumed those types of beverages several times a week. Approximately seven percent consumed such drinks daily.

Functional beverages described in other questions of the survey included energy-boosting drinks, fermented/probiotic drinks, low-calorie drinks, drinks promoting beauty/brain performance/health, functional water, "detox" drinks, etc.
Among a total of 1,835 survey respondents in China, 1,514 said they had tried functional beverages.
