In a survey conducted by Rakuten in 2019, regarding which functional beverages respondents in Thailand had tried, 47 percent of male respondents stated they had tried energy-boosting drinks with high caffeine and guarana content. Comparatively, just over 18 percent of male respondents had tried detox drinks in Thailand in 2019.

The survey was conducted among 6,314 female and 4,570 male respondents. Other surveyed countries included China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam.
Energy-boosting drinks include cold brew coffee, mate tea, matcha, energy drinks with added guarana.
Fermented and probiotic drinks include yoghurt or keffir drinks, kombucha, raw apple cider vinegar.
Low-calorie drinks include drinks with added stevia, agave syrup or monk fruit.
Drinks promoting beauty/added protein drinks include drinks with added collagen, bee pollen, protein-added smoothies.
Functional water includes water with added vitamins, minerals, or protein.
Drinks promoting brain performance and health includes drinks with added grape seed extract, ginseng, iodine and taurine.
Detox drinks include juice cleanse and detox teas.
