According to a study held in the third quarter of 2019, just four percent of respondents in countries around the world had used a pirate video service in the last month, marking a significant decrease from the ten percent who had done so in the corresponding quarter of 2016. The drop in piracy among video streaming consumers has been partially attributed to the variety and availability of video services, though the source also noted that as consumers grow frustrated with paying for multiple services to access the content they want when they cannot find everything on the same platform, there is a chance that they may turn to piracy to satisfy their viewing preferences.
