In 2021, 64 percent of respondents in Singapore reported that they did not intend to apply for scholarships as they feared not being able to keep up with required grades. In comparison, 19 percent stated that they did not want to be bonded. Many scholarships offered by institutions in Singapore come with a bond period, during which the scholarship recipient must serve out through a period of employment with the company or institution.
