In a survey on women's equality conducted by Ipsos in 2019, 31 percent of respondents in Australia believed that women being represented in government and politics was one of the areas that had made the most progress in terms of gender equality. The same share of respondents believed that another area where the most progress had been made was women having senior positions in business.

The survey question was phrased as follows: ''Which two or three of the following areas, if any, would you say have made most progress in achieving equality between men and women over the last 25 years''.
