Maternal mortality sharply decreased in 2022 both in urban and rural areas. In cities, 11.3 deaths of mothers per 100 thousand live births were recorded, down from 33.5 deaths per 100 thousand live births in the previous year.
Maternal mortality in rural areas of Russia was historically higher than in cities.
