Residents in Tokyo held the highest amount of personal savings, with around 5.6 million Japanese yen on average, according to a survey conducted in November 2021 among locals of the 47 prefectures in Japan. The survey revealed that the national average stood at around 3.37 million yen, with residents of 24 prefectures holding savings below this figure.
