In the United States, only eight utilities were responsible for around one third (or 33 percent) of the residential and commercial gas deliveries, a total of 26 utilities for two thirds of the delivery, and the rest were supplied by some additional 1,200 small utilities. National Grid alone accounted for six percent of the country's residential and commercial gas deliveries.
