In 2022, Malaysia exported around 3.35 million metric tons of palm oil and palm based products to the European Union. The EU remained Malaysia's second largest export market for palm oil and palm based products, after India. However, plans by the European Commission to phase out the use of palm oil in transport fuel by 2030 threatens to reduce the size of this market for Malaysian palm oil in the future.
