According to a survey conducted in November 2019 among locals of the 47 prefectures in Japan, around 16 percent of respondents residing in the capital Tokyo claimed that the prefecture can boast about its high income standards. Furthermore, the survey revealed that 17 prefectures ranked at the very bottom, with none of the residents perceiving the income levels as higher than average.
