Book, e-book and audio book sales increased in Germany during recent years. While numbers fluctuated, they were still impressive. In 2011, total sales of all three book types amounted to just under two billion euros, in 2023 this figure had grown to almost 3.2 billion euros. Since 2021, figures have started to decrease again.

Figures were partly retrieved from earlier publications. E-books and audio books were included in sales figures from 2014. Private purchases on online marketplaces were not included after 2015.
